So...
My wife and I have been chewing on this idea to get out of the States for some time now and we have always been drawn to Nica. (pre & post-pandemic) It draws a divine curiosity from within.
Yeah, we watched the YouTube videos and so on with noses wide open at first. We'd research the sites that said all the reasons why to (& not) consider Nica, and so on and so forth... Really debating the decision day in and day out.
Then, the time came to either poop or get off the pot and make a decision-
Will we? With two small children? Maybe two small dogs (maybe not)?
I heard the perritos situation is tough traveling across borders, so we are mentally and emotionally preparing for that now.
Are we moving to Nica-Effin-Ragua?!?!
This is what it's come down to mujeres y hombres...
We are looking for community. At least within our own damn family to start.
We don't feel like we fit the "ideal" mindset for our current culture. Are we expecting anything different in Nica? Who knows? But we want to at least find out for ourselves. We believe that our family thinks we are being dumb and naive, but it's not about looking for something better.
it's about experiencing something new and allowing our fears to be our vehicles for growth & love for the world outside of what we "think" we know.
We've been digging deep into the culture, history, and etiquette necessary to survive not just physically, but socially in this beautiful country.
Rest assured... We know to shower as often as possible. Jajaja!
The family secured a home near SJDS for a month to see what experiences Nica can offer our consciousness-based family and how we can make a positive impact on the community without stepping on toes or ruffling the wrong feathers.
We took time to remove our rose-colored lenses and make a sensibly practical move.
We are holistic healers (and clergy) by trade and have a healing practice in Houston, Tx, which will still be in operation while we are gone and is a living entity that will support us during our time. It's not a cash cow so to speak, but it is sufficient enough to sustain the lifestyle of a third-year life. We have plans to expand our practice to be of service internationally with our menu of healing arts. We also provide open faith spiritual counseling and practice to become death doulas.
I (Tye) am a third-year online film student at the Maharishi International University based out of Fairfield, Iowa majoring in Cinematic Arts & New Media, Graphic Artist, Screenwriter, Editor (Film & Video), commercial photographer/videographer, Part 107 Certified Drone pilot (Drone laws are a bummer, but it's cool!), Screenwriter, Editor (Adobe), Multi-instrumentalist musician, Part 107 -certified Drone Pilot, and commercial photographer/videographer (narrative & commercial only).
We are a non-political family but we respect & understand the country's resistance to journalism and Broadcom media so I am bringing minimal gear. Any insight on updated drone laws for foreigners? I tried to call the INAC, but my Spanish was muy mal.
We plan on bringing minimal gear for our family's vlogging, personal passion projects, and continued education online. Can any of you advise on how to maintain a good internet connection or at least cover my arse?
My Wife and I know a little about a lot. We're something like a pair of generalists, and always extending our hearts to help another human heart.

We have consolidated most of our belongings down to two 10x10 storage units, we are getting our kids' necessary immunizations, we have some unique skills & healing modalities, and we're all about love, community, and service while trusting in God but locking the front door.
We also practice having fun and letting our hair down and having a good time with our shadow-side in as healthy of a way possible! We're somewhat street savvy, but this is a whole new beast in what we are intending in a fulfilling journey of beneficial relationships. We have survived hurricanes and heat in South Texas, but we would love help in this department if you can offer advice.
My wife is more fluent in Spanish than I am but I swear 'fore Gawd I am making every conscious effort to hold a natural-sounding conversation without sounding silly! I swear I'm trying if I meet any of you and you hear me struggling! LOL!
We plan on driving from Texas to Nica. Since it's gonna be for a month, we can figure out if we should "ditch" our vehicle should Nica decide we are worthy of staying. Any pointers on how to prepare for this? Driving to Nica from the US? Dealing with borders? Paying for Superhighway tolls? Dealing with importing vehicles? Dealing with the law and local conventions?
We don't believe that every situation is perfectly ideal, but everywhere we go we are in our perfectly ideal home when we are together. Do we sound like an ideal fit for Nica?
We just spent 4 days moving a 4 bedroom house (+office & media room), in the hot oven-like heat of Houston with concrete cooking me in a u-haul from all sides while my wife is wrestling with the kiddos! We're good with humid heat.
Not afraid of rain, just want to know the best practices for surviving it! Jaja
We just know that we are meant to be in Nica (at least for starters)! Ever since we said "Yes!" The Nature of God/Universe/Pachamama/Vishnu/Buddha has been working in our favor. No lie! I'll tell you all about it over a few Victorias.
Would it be weird to ask if y'all had IPAs? Indian Pale Ales? ANYWHERE? (It's all good if you don't! I still want to be there! LMAO)
I guess it's also a reach for acceptance and hoping that someone will reach back with a welcoming hand and a loving grace. I promise we're not assholes.
